We have covered the Best Blogging platforms in previous posts and this list included CMS platforms like Wordpress. So we have also listed The Best CMS and if you choose to go with paid blog hosting you will need to choose the type of hosting you want or more importantly need.Unfortunately choosing the hosting that fits your needs perfectly is not as easy as you may think.

In this post that is what we will focus on, the four main types of hosting and which best suits you.
So if for example you choose Wordpress from our lists of the best Blog Platforms before you ask what is the Best Wordpress Hosts ? It's important to know what is the best type of package. So lets go through the types of best hosting available to you.

Shared Hosting

Shared hosting is by far the most popular choice, as the name suggests you are sharing a server with other users.Shared hosting is easy to use usually the host will provide a simple dashboard allowing you to manage your blog or website.Shared hosting is also cheap, in many cases much cheaper than the other options we will look at.There are limits to shared hosting as you are "Sharing" a server with other users.

This is the choice for most new and medium sized blogs as shared hosting has the ability to cover your needs. Also you do not need much technical knowledge you just need to familiarise yourself with the dashboard and off you go.

Virtual Private Server

Virtual Private Server (VPS) is like having dedicated hosting (see below) but the webhost manages the server for you and you in essence have "a piece of a server".With this you have much more control than with shared hosting and this may be a step towards running your own server down the line. For VPS you will need some technical knowledge so it will not suit all users.

If your blog has grown and is experiencing a level of traffic shared hosting is struggling to manage this is the next step.

Dedicated Hosting

Dedicated Hosting is the next step up and gives you yet more control.Once again the your host looks after the hardware so you still have support. This time however you are not sharing a server so you have complete control. As with VPS above you will need a high level of knowledge to run your site with dedicated hosting.

This is the option for the top blogs.Although it is expensive if you need dedicated hosting your the owner of a top blog so if you can monetize that traffic the cost will not be a problem.

Cloud Hosting

Cloud Hosting is an interesting option. We have all heard of cloud computing over the last few years.Cloud hosting uses Virtual Dedicated Servers (VDS) and the big advantage is cost.Cloud hosting can be much more cost effective than our other options yet still have packages with similar capabilities to shared and dedicated hosting.

This option is valid for all levels of bloggers but some users are still apprehensive when using what still is a relatively new option.
